Bogotá first day / Bogotá primeiro dia

You know what? Bogota reminds me of Rio de Janeiro sometimes. When you move around in the Germania bus you have a strong feeling of being in the Yellow line in Rio, seing those mountains on the landscape, the yellow taxis, the traffic jams. La Candelaria which is the old part of the city also really looks like downtown Rio.
The one thing that was worrying me was the altitude. Bogota sits at 2550m above sea level and everywhere I read they said to take it easy on the first day. Drink lots of water, don't make too much effort and avoid alcohol on the first days as it has way more impact on you than on sea level.
I must confess I followed that. So you have an idea the day before I ran almost 9km and didn't really feel tired afterwards. Here I was tired for standing in line in the airport :)
It feels like a smoker who just finished smoking 2 packs of cigarettes.
By the end of the day however I was feeling much better, perhaps tomorrow I'll go out for a jog and see what happens.
The sky was beautifully blue yesterday but somehow in the aim of no effort I didn't even took a picture. Today it's cloudy! So guess I'll just wait until the gorgeous blue comes back.
People have commented on the smog around here. I didn't notice anything, so I'm guessing Sao Paulo is at least 3x as smoggy as Bogota. The air feels fresh, as it's supposed to be in mountainous area like this.
Prices are very friendly and it looks like I'm going to have a great time here.
One of the funny things is that the word for mini bus in Spanish is "buseta". Well it turns out in Portuguese this is the slang for "vagina". You have no idea how many times I crack a smirk throughout the day while I hear that "the buseta is too small and tight", or "the buseta is cheap" and so on.
I'm staying at the Cranky Croc hostel and it's fantastic. It has all the nice perks of a nice hostel which are common area, cleanliness, a kitchen, library and laundry. Staff is super friendly and the mattress is unbelievably good.
So far so good!
