How to outsmart scammer taxi drivers / Cuidado com os taxistas em Buenos Aires!

ENGLISH

What a nice day! It started hot and at full speed. And not only due to the temperature.
I was at the bus station trying to find a internet cafe but was unable to find.
So I decide to take a taxi downtown because there it's probably way easier to find an internet cafe.
I signal to the first taxi passing by and jump in.

Me-I'm going to the Avenida de Mayo (Downtown BsAs).
Taxi driver- Do you want to go to a Hotel?
Me- No, it's a hostel.
Taxi driver-Ah, a hotel. (Besides stupid he's also deaf)

And there we go. Along the way the same chit chat with the driver. I'm here for the third time, I can already spot the English Tower and the driver points the Sheraton hotel LOL.
Everything is going fine, I had even taken a 10 ARS bill to pay the taxi already to speed up things.
Sometime later, taximeter was around 4ARS, he sees the 10 ARS bill and

Taxi Driver-You must exchange it at the bank because it's from a series that was emitted twice, therefore it's fake.
Me-Oh wow, but then how am I supposed to pay you as I only have this bill (I was lying obviously).

We ride some 200 meters more and he says that the car engine is superheating and says that I must drop out of the car.
I'm sad as I get on the street in the middle of nowhere known. The good news is that since my bill was fake I didn't need to pay.
BAMMMM! LUCKY ME!

Just behind him, coincidently there was another taxi coming. I wave my hands and jump in again.
He promptly offers to help me carry my backpack which I promply refuse "No, Gracias señor" while I think "Andáte a mierda!".
Well, well, well, new taxi driver, new life, right?
Off course not. This was crime buddy to the other driver.
Not even 100m in he already start saying that my bill was emitted twice, bla bla bla and that I need to provide a bigger bill (like 100 ARS).

Note: I knew this scam before

I soon realize it's the scam I read before on the internet so I try my best poker face and see how far he can take me because soon enough I will need to jump out of the car.
I stand firm and say that I only have the 10 ARS bill.
Then he moves on on his little scamming process and asks:

Taxi driver-Do you happen to have dollars? I take them 3 to 1 to the ARS. And I think, fuck, I will have to get off the car.
I say:

Me-Sorry sir, I need to get off the car, I only have this bill.

We ride one more minute and he politely asks me to get out of the car.

I step out and walk a bit, find some police man. I ask for directions and they tell me my final destination is only 7 blocks away. And they confirmed it was a scam and that I did the right thing. NICE!

And this is how I got 2 taxi rides with the SCAMMERS for free to my hostel. How nice to outsmart these suckers!

PORTUGUESE

Gracias señor e penso "Andáte a mierda!". Bom, novo taxista vida nova, correto?
