Yesterday I was talking to this English guy and he was telling me how it sucks for an Englishman to travel through Argentina. Because every time he says he's from England, the folks start asking about Malvinas (Falkland). And he has to repeat all over that he's got nothing to do with his government. The same happens to the Americans who are asked all the time about Mr George Walker Bush actions. If you think about it, only 50% of Americans actually voted for him and I guess only 50% of Americans actually voted at all. Anyway, the invasion of Iraq is not the best subject to talk about to Americans, there are many other things to talk about.
The Dutch on their side always must know Amsterdan, the marijuana selling cafes and off course the Red Light district.
And off course it's very possible that not everybody knows these things in person.
If you are Argentinian then you must know how to dance Tango and if you are a Brazilian obviously you MUST know how to dance samba and you must like bossa nova, play soccer.
If you are Swiss you must manufacture watches and chocolate.
If you are French then it means you never take a shower and you are snob.
If you are English or German you are a cold headed person.
If you are Arabic then you are a terrorist.

Unfortunately none of the parameters above is even close to reality. I actually play a little soccer, but forget about samba!! Each person has their own values and they don't necessarily follow what other guys in their country do.
Another subject that ended up being the topic of the conversation was Amsterdan, their marijuana buffets and about whether or not they should legalize it. And the Englishman came out with a very nice argument.
He said that since marijuana is forbidden, those 15 to 20 years old teenagers seek to smoke marijuana, exactly because it's forbidden. And despite it being forbidden we all know is widely tolerated. This way the governments create like a "gray area" for marijuana where it's forbidden but tolerated because it doesn't have such heavy effects as other drugs. Probably if the governments were to legalize it, there would be a massive migration to heavier drugs, exactly because they the heavier drugs would be forbidden and you know, these young punks always want to do what they are forbid to do.

Ontem conversando com este ingles, e o cara me contando como eh chato para um ingles viajar pela argentina, hehee. Porque toda vez que ele diz que eh da inglaterra, a pessoa ja pergunta o que ele acha das malvinas :D. E ele tem que ficar repetindo todo o tempo que nao tem nada que ver com o governo da inglaterra nem por suas acoes. O mesmo vale para os americanos, que sao colocados contra a parede com frequencia para que defendam George W Bush, mas se for ver, nos US apenas 50% das pessoas votam, e apenas metade disso votou no Bush, entao dah na mesma, com certeza o assunto governo americano, invasao no iraque nao eh o melhor assunto para discutir com os americanos, afinal tem muitas outras coisas pra se aprender.
Ja os holandeses sempre tem que conhecer Amsterdan, os cafes que vendem varios tipos de maconha, e claro, o Red Light District!!! ]:) . E claro, eh bem provavel que nem todos conhecam. Se voce eh argentino tem que dancar tango, se eh brasileiro, tem que dancar samba e gostar de $%$%$%$$eks bossa nova, alem de jogar futebol, claro. Se voce eh suico, claro, tem que ou fabricar relogios ou chocolates. Se voce eh frances nao toma banho e eh esnobe, se voce eh ingles ou alemao eh frio e calculista, e se voce eh arabe, terrorista (ateh rimou essa). Infelizmente, absolutamente nenhum dos parametros acima estao nem perto da realidade (po, ate jogo futebol, mas samba :( ), e cada pessoa nao segue necessariamente a cultura de seu pais.
Outro assunto que acabou surgindo na conversa, foi obviamente Amsterdan, e seus buffets de maconha, e sobre a logica de legalizar ou nao a maconha. E o ingles usou um argumento muito interessante. Como a maconha eh proibida, a piazada de 15 a 20 anos principalmente, se metem a fumar os beques um atras do outro, justamente porque eh proibido. E apesar de ser proibido, todos nos sabemos que eh amplamente tolerado, vide estadios, universidades, etc. Sendo assim, cria-se uma area cinza para a maconha, onde eh proibida mas tolerada, por nao ter efeitos tao drasticos como as drogas mais pesadas. Provavelmente, se a maconha fosse proibida haveria uma grande migracao para drogas mais pesadas, justamente por serem proibidas, e ai o problema seria maior. Bom, vou nessa, um abraco!
